One thing about taylor’s merch team is… they are going to stamp her face or her name in big, bold, block letters right in the center of a shirt.
From the messages I get and the posts I see, I can tell people are often scared of this kind of merch because… how are you supposed to wear it out in public without it screaming “FANGIRL.” Or how are you supposed to wear a casual outfit with taylor’s face stamped right on the front. I am going to show you how you can take the shirt you’ve declared as a “pajama shirt” to a shirt you can wear out in public.
The most important thing that you have to focus on when styling loud merch is: stying the merch down. This is going to be done by letting the loud merch piece take all the attention it so desperately wants. Taking the “Taylor Swift Red (Taylor’s Version)” sweater for example: I paired this sweater with a pleather black skirt and patterned tights. By tying this shirt together with a plain black bottom, allows me to add some pattern in the tights without letting the outfit be too loud. Even though the shirt has taylor’s name written across the front of it, it’s still trendy and casual without screaming “FANGIRL.”
Another example of styling a loud piece of merch; take this “Debut Eras Tour Tee” for example. The front of this shirt displays a very artsy illustration of taylor from the debut era. By tying the shirt up and putting it over a green dress that accents the green in the shirt just enough, allows this shirt to be more casual and not look like celebrity merchandise.
I know everyone is always looking for that merch piece that gives off a subtle fangirl vibe but, trust me, that look can equally be achieved by simply styling the loud pieces down to a nice, small dose of fangirl.
